DENTAL BONDING

Dental Implant & Smile Centre

Dental Bonding is among the easiest and least invasive of all cosmetic dental procedures. Bonding is the application of a tooth colored resin called composite to fix the shape, fractures, color, a craked tooth, exposed tooth root due to a receding of the gum or a gap between the teeth. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are manufactured in a laboratory and require your dentist to remove a large amount of healthy tooth structure, composites can be applied in a single office visit with minimal tooth removal.

The composite bonding procedure

Little advance preparation is needed for dental bonding. Anesthesia is often not necessary unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Your dentist will use a shade guide to select a composite resin color that will closely match the color of your tooth. Next, the surface of the tooth will be roughened and a conditioning liquid applied. These procedures help the bonding material adhere to the tooth. The tooth-colored, putty-like resin is then applied, molded, and smoothed to the desired shape. An ultraviolet light or laser is then used to harden the material. After the material is hardened, your dentist will further trim and shape it, and polish it to match the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface. Dental bonding takes about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth to complete.

Advantages of dental bonding include;

*  İt is minimally invasive (minimal amount of healthy tooth reduction is require

*  İt can often be accomplished in one office visit

*  İt is  very natural in appearance

*  İt is painless & usually no  anaesthetic is required

* İt’s  cost is usually a lot less than other cosmetic alternatives

Disadvantages of dental bonding include;

*  The bonding materials are not as strong as other restorative procedures, such as crowns, veneers, or fillings

*  Unlike crowns and porcelain veneers, the material used in dental bodning is porous can stain and it has a tendency to become discolored over time. “Coffee, tea, red wine, and cigarette smoke can stain, making it stand out from the rest of your teeth,”

*  The material used in dental bonding can chip easily although with proper care dental bonding can last three to seven years.

People of all ages can benefit by the cosmetic technique of bonding. Children, adolescents, adults & senior citizens can improve their smiles and appearance with composite bonding. There are limitations in the use of dental bonding unlike other more permenent solutions, İt may be best suited for small cosmetic changes, for the temporary correction of cosmetic defects, and for correction of teeth in areas of very low bite pressure.
