WHITE FILLING

Dental Implant & Smile Centre

A composite (tooth colored) filling is used when more of the natural tooth as been lost and needs more protection or to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. Composite fillings can also be used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth, build up cracked or chipped teeth, close gaps, reshape uneven, short or disfigured teeth, restore the teeth to their original appearance, strength and function.

Composite fillings bond better to the tooth structure and are much stronger than those made of amalgam, they also transmit the light better, making them aesthetically pleasing and it is important to know that it is our policy not to use the metal-based Amalgam fillings in our clinic here in Turkey due to the advantages shown below;

Main advantages to composite fillings.

1. Strong and flexible

2. They are the same color as natural teeth, making them blend seamlessly with your smile

3. More durable than metal fillings

4. Tooth can be used immediately after fillings

5. The cavity preparation is more conservative than for a traditional silver filling & less tooth structure is removed before the tooth is filled.

6. The white fillings look better cosmetically because the composite material is tooth colored, it will blend in with the treated tooth and others nearby & stay unnoticed.

7. Composite fillings bond directly to the tooth, making the tooth stronger than it would be with an amalgam filling.

White filings can be used in the front or the back of the mouth. They are the ideal, natural-looking white & offer a quick and affordable way to correct a variety of dental situations such as:

  • Cracks
  • Chips
  • Closing gaps between teeth
  • Reshaping short or uneven teeth
  • Tooth decay and the filling of cavities
  • Discoloration
  • Replace metal or amalgam filling

Depending on the severity of the cavity, you may or may not need a local anesthetic in order to have your tooth drilled. Your dentist will remove any decay or damage using their dental tools. Then, it’s time for the filling to be placed. The dentist will paint a bonding agent onto your tooth to give the composite something to stick to, and once that’s dry, the composite will be placed & bonded into place with a bright  light. your dentist will polish the tooth so it’s smooth and there are no rough edges. It may take you a few days to get used to the feeling of the filled tooth, but after that it should feel as natural as any of your other teeth.

Composite fillings are known to be great solutions as they can outlast amalgam and metal fillings. Of course the longevity of your filling depends on your oral care habits and they type of chewing and eating that corresponds to your lifestyle.İn order to maintain healthy teeth they must be brushed as directed by your dentist, twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste. Foods that cause tooth decay must be avoided and eating between meals should be avoided as much as possible. Regular visits the dentist – at least every 6 months – is highly recommended.

If you think you may have a cavity, it’s best to get it looked at before it’s too late.
