COMPOSITE VENEERS

Dental Implant & Smile Centre

Composite veneers can be used to improve the colour, shape, size and texture of teeth to make them more attractive. They can be used to fix minor chips and cracks in teeth. They are made from a thin shell of resin which is bonded directly to teeth and sculpted to the desired shape and finish under the hands of an experienced cosmetic dentist.

The procedure takes one visit to complete requiring little if any tooth reduction (drilling) However unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers can be prone to staining and may not last as long.

What are composite veneers used for?

Composite veneers can be used for treating a wide range of cosmetic dental problems in the same way as porcelain veneers are used including;

Crooked teeth – you can use composite veneers after orthodontic treatment with something like the Inman Aligner, 6 month smiles or smilelign to complete any in perfections. Or composite veneers can be placed directly

Discoloured teeth – When there are stains, white patches, and/or discolouration of the teeth which cannot be treated with a dental clean or teeth whitening alone, then composite veneers are an ideal solution.

Damaged teeth – When your teeth have been damaged by acid erosion (bulimia or fizzy drinks) or chipped by accident, composite veneers (cosmetic bonding) are often the most ideal, minimally invasive and cost effective solution.

Gaps between Teeth – One of the most common cosmetic complaints that composite bonding is used for is to close gaps between the front teeth (diastema) or other teeth. This treatment can be completed in a single visit & is a cost effective alternative to orthodontic treatment or porcelain veneers.

How long do composite veneers last?

On average, Composite veneers can last between 2 – 5 years. This depends on many factors; the aftercare and habits of the patient, diet, brushing habits and grinding of teeth.

 Advantages of Composite Veneers

The procedure can be completed in a single appointment. Cheaper option and more tooth friendly as little if any tooth reduction is needed.

Procedure for bonding of composite veneers

After our consultation and examination with our cosmetic dentist we will determine if you are suitable for composite veneers. Once all options have been discussed and health is good, we can complete your composite veneers in a very short time. All your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned with special agents. The composite is then bonded in layers to your teeth. After sculpting of the composite it is polished to create the final veneer. The results are amazing and can completely transform your smile.

After care:

Diet and oral hygiene is important as well as regular hygienist/ dental checkups. Uses of night bite guards are important if you grind your teeth.

Composite Veneers will perfect your smile by evening and smoothing out your smile line, greatly improving the shade of your existing teeth and will evenly proportion the size and width of your teeth to give you an improved smile.
